About Us
The Homestead
33 Zen Lane is a female-owned business and 2-acre homestead located in Auburn, Maine. Established in 2020, we are dedicated to creating permaculture-based systems that will serve our community and heal the planet.
Profits from our introductory line of products go toward our goal of establishing a food forest and herbal community resource.
We are currently establishing our small apiary, with the goal of eventually using 100% of our own honey and beeswax in our products.
Though newly established, our perennial herb gardens are well underway and provide more medicine each year. Most of the herbs in our products were organically grown right here on the homestead or were sustainably wildcrafted from local fields and forests. We strive to support other local small businesses whenever we need ingredients that we are not able to produce.
Wellness is our true passion, and we recognize that many layers are required to heal the body and spirit. This is reflected in the variety of offerings that we choose to create. We feel that our healing crystal jewelry deepens the energetic and physical benefits of our herbal tinctures, teas, and topical CBD products. Our jewelry is made from hand-picked natural stones and crystals. We consider the energetic properties of each stone and craft them with love and healing intention. We also do custom pieces and repairs.
Who We Are
Amber and Joey, married in 2016, are responsible for all of the happenings at Zen Lane. They have two children, Silas, 11, and Malachi, 9; plus, Scout (the border collie), 3 cats, a growing flock of chickens, and thousands of honey bees!
Amber is a native of Appalachian Kentucky and draws influence from the "granny witchcraft" of her childhood. Her love of herbalism began by helping her dad hunt for ginseng and learning how to properly prepare pokeweed with her grandmother. She is largely a self-taught herbalist, currently completing more formal studies thanks to a generous scholarship from Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine. She continues to work in the field of mental health and strives to integrate this knowledge and experience into her herbalism practice. Amber is passionate about learning and creating a wide array of art and offerings. In addition to herbal wellness, you will find her making jewelry, crochet items, clay art, and literally anything that grabs her interest.
Joey is a life-long Mainer and chef who recently became a candy-maker and chocolatier. She is currently working on perfecting many delicious, herbal-infused candies and confections that will be available locally. She aspires to soon be a mom to several sheep who will provide yarn and milk for future projects.
Healing Hive Collective
We teamed up to form Healing Hive Collective in 2021 with our longtime friend, Rosalie, of Rosalie's Bath Remedies.
Rosalie's experience with topicals and CBD, combined with our knowledge of herbs and infusions, has led to the creation of some super-powered products that are now offered on both of our websites!
We are very excited for the future of the hive and the opportunity to collaborate on healing products and growing small business in Maine.
Thanks for growing with us!
